I believe that there is a mental health crisis at our universities. The kids are being pushed to succeed, are maturing slower than in the past, and there are kids at the university who would never would have attended a decade ago.
In the days gone past, the axiom "if you can't stand the heat then stay out of the kitchen" applied. I remember a girl who was in my class in the mid-80s who became depressed when her father died. The U told her to come back when she was ready because they did not have the resources to help her.
I guess that this applies today too.
I respect the universities who admit that they can not be all things to all students.
