Overheard out shopping
Looking over the marked-down imported sweets at TJ Maxx:
Mom: See anything you want?
Little Girl about 8: Marzipan!
Mom: No. Remember, you like the idea of marzipan but not the reality.
Little Girl: Oh, yeah, I forgot.
(Truer words were never spoken.)

I'm with the girl. Marzipan is nasty.
I *love* marzipan, especially when it's covered in dark chocolate. :)
My wedding cake was covered with a marzipan coating (we had a traditional Swedish "princess cake" style, although we didn't color it green!). It's excellent in small doses with other things, but by itself...eesh, too much sweet.
You mean, like I'm a politically conservative education student who actually cares about education, so while I love the whole rationale behind No Child Left Behind, I hatehateHATE the actual law?
I hate almond flavoring, though I love almonds. Marzipan is one of those Cilantro foods for me.
I feel the same way about spaghetti squash. It's something I should like, but I hate it. Still, every now and then, I can't resist the urge to try it again. And I hate it.

Like you, I keep retrying foods that I hate. Like fettucini Alfredo--yucko. And blueberry bagels--awful. And banana bread--the idea sounds delectable, but the reality is like a moldy brown sponge.
I love banana bread.......well it always has nuts when I eat it, banana nut bread
Tina's right. Marzipan is divine with dark chocolate. Yum!
What I love most about this exchange is how applies to so many of our choices in life. It illustrates how willingly we accept the party line even to the point of ignoring what we’ve learned about ourselves from experience. For instance, I’ve met a number of people who apparently loved the idea of children but clearly feel inconvenienced by the reality.
So to hold! This site is very good. I thought that few things can impress me a lot!
